Winter Cycling Congress 2022

LIMBURG, BELGIUM

February 2022

Due to the COVID-19 developments and after lengthy and thoughtful considerations, the WCC 2021 organization in Hasselt decided to postpone the Winter Cycling Congress 2021, scheduled to take place February 10-13, 2021. The new dates for the Winter Cycling Congress 2022 will be announced as soon as possible. The venue of this conference will remain the University of Hasselt, Belgium.

The good news is, that the Winter Cycling Federation has decided to organize the first virtual Winter Cycling Congress 2021 in February 2021.

We extend our best wishes to all of you in this complex and challenging time. We regret not having the opportunity to see each of you in person this year, but look forward to virtually gather in 2021 and in person in 2022. In the meantime we all continue with our important work together.

LIMBURG

Over the past decades, Limburg has grown into a true cyclist’s paradise. Every year, almost three million cyclists enjoy the varied landscape, authentic heritage, and friendly town and village centres with the help of our extensive bicycle path network consisting of 2.000 kilometres of signposted routes. There is also little to no traffic on many of these routes.

Using the slogan ‘Reinventing is our nature’ we continuously invest in our strong position in the conference industry.  The Limburg and Flanders efforts ensure every conference held in our province is a great success. Belgium is ranked third in the top 15 of International Conference Countries!

About the congress

The Winter Cycling Federation was founded in 2013. The first international Winter Cycling Congress (WCC) was held in Oulu, Finland. After the first gathering, it became clear that WCF had identified an overwhelming need for more knowledge about winter cycling. It was decided that an annual congress concentrated on relevant issues was required.

Winter Cycling Federation’s vision is “winter cycling for everyone” - a world where cycling year round is understood as a normal and practical, where cycling is a viable transportation option for people of all ages and abilities. Winter Cycling Federation’s mission is to create opportunities for inspiration, research and collaboration that help cities and countries around the world learn what it takes to develop, implement and maintain bicycle-focused transportation systems year-round.

Drawing upon inspiring examples from some of the premier cycling jurisdictions in the world, the Winter Cycling Congress (WCC) is now established as the main forum for sharing examples and best practices of winter cycling design, planning, policy, and implementation around the world. Its aim is to operate globally, since winter conditions are a reality for billions around the world.
